Albert 5-String Open Back Banjo
MSRP: £345.00
If you're looking for an 'old-time' banjo look and feel, the 'Albert' open-back is for you.
Suited to a 'clawhammer', old-time style, the 'Albert' is unlike more commonly used 'bluegrass' banjos that are equipped with resonators that project the sound forward. Open back models such as the 'Albert' produce a noticeably quieter and more mellow sound.
This Barnes & Mullins BJ350G open-back banjo has an easy playing feel in keeping with models from the 'Perfect' range and is well suited to all, whether an absolute beginner or a more proficient player.
Barnes & Mullins' 'Albert' banjo features a chocolate-coloured walnut rim and mahogany neck which helps produce a truly authentic experience with a charmingly mellow tone and a subtle brightness.
The Albert is complete with chrome fittings and armrest, an ovangkol fingerboard with patterned fret inlays, traditional planetary-style machineheads and the 'Barnes & Mullins, London W' historic inlaid logo.

Why should I buy a 5-string banjo?
This B&M ‘Albert’ 5-string open back banjo is – like all open back banjos – a great choice for ‘Clawhammer’ players. Clawhammer playing employs a percussive technique where the index or middle fingers are used to strike the strings rather than finger picks – with the hand in a ‘claw’ shape.
This technique naturally produces a softer sound that is complimented perfectly by an open back instrument as it is quieter and more subdued tonally as some of the sound escapes through the back towards the player.
