Rathbone 5-String Banjo - Electro
MSRP: £515.00
If you want to amplify or add effects to your banjo, the Rathbone Electro is for you.
The Barnes & Mullins 'Rathbone' banjo is a handsome 5-string named after Rathbone Place, London: the home of Messrs Barnes and Mullins in the early 1900s.
This BJ400E Rathbone banjo is an electro-acoustic model featuring a humbucker pickup, 1/4" jack output and volume control and is therefore a great choice for when you want to amplify your banjo for recording or as part of a larger band.
The mahogany neck, resonator and rim are complemented by a striking black Remo WeatherKing head, combining a stylish modern aesthetic with a traditional warmth of tone and a smooth playing response.
The Rathbone banjo is completed by chrome hardware and fittings, an ovangkol fingerboard, traditional planetary style machineheads, a pre-fitted pickup with jack output and volume control, and the historic 'Barnes & Mullins, London W' inlaid logo.
Just imagine what you could do with an amplified banjo...

Why should I buy a 5-string banjo?
This B&M Rathbone 5-string resonator banjo is the standard for bluegrass playing but is also an excellent choice for other musical styles including country, gospel, jazz, folk, classical and rock. It's the go-to style of banjo for 'Scruggs' players who use three-fingers with fingerpicks on the index and middle fingers and a thumbpick for a fast-tempo and lively style.
This Rathbone banjo is unique in that it is an electro model featuring a humbucker pickup, 1/4" jack output and volume control and is therefore a great choice for when you want to amplify your banjo for recording or as part of a larger band.
